Artist Statement
Kiln fused glass as a medium, with its’ mixture of science and creativity, requires me to utilize both my technical skills (i.e. science and math) and creative abilities. I use an understanding of the physics involved in temperature control to achieve specific results. My work is influenced by this process and the world around me. I draw on influences from details I observe, from my travels and nature.

I believe the feelings picked up by your fingers as they run across a piece are just as important as the message received visually. And that art/craft is meant not just to be owned but lived with and enjoyed. For this reason, my pieces are made not only to be seen but held and used. I convey these values in my pieces by regularly including raised elements and paying close attention to the type of finish each piece is given. This increases visual depth and also contributes to that important sense of touch.
