Artist Statement
Sam is a full time glass artist and the flameworking Sr. Instructor at Wired Designs
Studio in San Antonio, Her education and experience is multifaceted. Sam majored
in both art and biology receiving a Bachelor of Science from Stephen F. Austin.

When she is working she draws on her knowledge as an artist, silver smith and
scientist. Chemistry and physics are very helpful when melting glass. Sam's
inspiration comes from nature, which can be organic, vibrant, ordered or chaotic.
Movement, color and depth are very important to her in all her work. Glass is the
perfect medium for Sam. Flameworking glass allows her to incorporate intricate,
fluid details into her work. She is able to capture movement and freeze it with the
torch.
